Mission: Impossible - Fallout

Director: Christopher McQuarrie
Cast: Tom Cruise, Henry Cavill, Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Vanessa Kirby, Sean Harris,
Angela Bassett, Michelle Monaghan, Alex Baldwin
Plot: The best intentions often come back to haunt you. MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - FALLOUT finds Ethan Hunt
(Tom Cruise) and his IMF team (Alec Baldwin, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames) along with some familiar allies
(Rebecca Ferguson, Michelle Monaghan) in a race against time after a mission gone wrong. Henry Cavill, Angela
Bassett, and Vanessa Kirby also join the dynamic cast with filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie returning to the
helm.
Verdict: Director Christopher McQuarrie has upped the stakes, yet again, in the sixth installment of the action-
packed Mission: Impossible franchise.
Tom Cruise as the unstoppable IMF agent Ethan Hunt
hurls himself out of planes, dangles from helicopters
and scales cliffs to save humanity.
There are heart-stopping chase scenes on land and in
the air, spectacular fight sequences and an intriguing
storyline which further fleshes out some of our
favourite characters.
McQuarrie, who wrote and directed the previous
Misson: Impossible film, Rogue Nation, has continued
with Fallout to create a highly intriguing follow-up
which not only delivers on the action but also adds
plenty of humour and plot twists.
The action kicks off with Hunt and his team trying to
beat a mysterious arms dealer, John Lark, to three
deadly orbs of plutonium.
Terrorist group, the Apostles, wants the plutonium to
attack several cities and the race is on for all interested
parties to get their hands on the silver orbs of
destruction.
Enter CIA chief Erica Sloan (Angela Bassett) who puts
her own eyes and ears on Hunt in the form of chiseled
Agent Walker (Henry Cavill) – he is the hammer to
Hunt’s scalpel.
Hunt and his team including Luther (Ving Rhames) and
Benji (Simon Pegg) must work with Walker to attain the
plutonium.
The camaraderie between Cruise and his team is
superb with Rhames a gentle giant and Pegg is very
funny and gets the best lines. Cavill as the CIA assassin
plays it cool.
This film also features some strong women in Vanessa
Kirby as the seductive, powerful criminal broker the
White Widow, while Michelle Monaghan is back as Hunt’s smart and caring ex-wife, Julia, and Rebecca Ferguson
reprises her kick-arse role as MI6’s Ilsa Faust.
Sean Harris is back as the heartless villain Solomon Lane and Alex Baldwin puts in a great performance as Hunt’s
boss.
Cruise is compelling as the everyman Ethan Hunt who doesn’t just care about the millions but aims to save the
individuals.
The action in this film is heart-stopping and Cruise pushes himself to greater heights in this film. The scenery and
production design is also spectacular.
It’s an ingenious movie with jaw-dropping action, vulnerability and a superb ensemble cast.
Take the mission – if you dare!
