Livvy and Pete: The Songs of Olivia Newton John and Peter Allen

The Garden of Unearthly Delights, Le Casadeur, until March 19

Review by Honey B

There was no denying that the opening night audience was hopelessly devoted to Michael Griffiths and Amelia Ryan as they belted out the tunes of ONJ and Peter Allen. Piano-man Griffiths, looking resplendent in a bright floral shirt, kicked of the show with Not The Boy Next Door and he was soon joined on-stage by Ryan to compete the song as a duet. The Adelaide pair work so well together because both have an easy storytelling style and a natural banter. Of course, the audience was encouraged to sing along and they certainly did. Ryan, who loved ONJ growing up, had a ball dashing backstage for many a costume change. The newly engaged Ryan looked gorgeous in all including her tight Grease-inspired Livvy ensemble and her workout Physical costume. There were so many highlights during this one hour show it’s such a shame to list but a few, but some of the nights hits included a gorgeous, heartfelt  I Honestly Love You duet, Allen’s Tenterfield Saddler and Arthur’s Theme. Ryan wowed with a comedic version of Hopelessly Devoted to You and she went all out for Xanadu. Don’t miss this inspiring and fun cabaret show.
