Kate Ceberano

The Garden of Unearthly Delights, Magic Mirrors Spiegeltent, March 10 & 11

Review by Honey B

Kate Ceberano continues to have a sublime career some 30 years in the making. Playing an hour-long set in the beautiful spiegeltent, Ceberano was in for a laidback, fun early evening gig. She stepped out in her breezy style and joked that she was feeling “surprisingly confident’’ in her beautiful floaty cut-out dress. Always ready to surprise, Ceberano sang a several favourite songs along with her own back catalogue. Highlights included a divine Chrissie Amphlett anthem I Touch Myself, with a little bit of Science Fiction melded in, and also a gorgeous rendition of The Models’ Barbados – Ceberano sang backing vocals on the original. Of course, Ceberano’s own songs shone including Brave, Pash and Bedroom Eyes. Ceberano also showed off her many musical skills beating out some tunes on the drums and also playing the piano. With her easy-going nature, a fabulous band, her quick and beautiful smile and plenty of wonderful stories to match her song choices an hour was not nearly enough with Kate Ceberano.
