Blanc de Blanc

The Garden of Unearthly Delights, Magic Mirrors Spiegeltent, until March 19

Review by Honey B Here’s cheers to The Garden of Unearthly Delight’s latest sexy, bawdy and cheeky show. Blanc de Blanc was created by Strut & Fret which is known for such heady delights as Limbo and Cantina. This latest physical circus/burlesque show features suave host Monsieur Romeo and his troupe of outstanding, and naughty, performers who sold us the virtues of champagne. Blanc de Blanc isn’t a show for the easily offended as “female clown’’ Emma Maye proves just about every time she struts onto the stage with such confidence and bizarre and jaw-dropping antics – including a sparkler surprise for one unsuspecting audience member. Highlights of the performance included Masha gliding through the air on a luggage trolley and the act of the night was Milena and Humpus sensually soaring around the venue on the aerial straps – it was breathtaking. There were so many strong and solid acrobatic performances. Adelaide’s own Spencer Novich played his second fiddle role to Romeo very well and at times stole the show from the host. Then there were the completely lewd and rude parts of the show and it did feel a bit like the cast was selling champagne – there are worse things to sell! The show also contains quite a bit of nudity and is for the over 18s. It’s a bubbly and light show that goes down well with a bit of champers.
