Best of the Ed Fest featuring Lloyd Langford, Fin Taylor and Jimmy

McGhie

The Garden of Unearthly Delights, Umbrella Revolution until March 19

Review by Honey B

The Best of the Ed Fest is triple the funny. Handpicked from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Lloyd Langford kicked off the proceedings. The former blacksmith turned comedian has an easy-going, laconic style and he won over the audience with his observational style of comedy and he had some good banter going with several people in the venue. Next up was Fin Taylor, who exuded a much more manic energy than Langford. He’s an intelligent comedian and one who likes to make the audience squirm – especially when he starts talking about white privilege and he doesn’t flinch when he holds the mirror up to his own privileged life. Taylor’s comedy challenged the audience and he’s a serious talent to watch out for. Last but by no means least was Jimmy McGhie, and Adelaide favourite and he stood up to his reputation bringing the Best of the Ed Fest home with plenty of laughs. McGhie is  natural storyteller and the audience was treated to some of his most finely crafted and involving pieces. These three wonderful comedians beautifully highlighted the different styles of comedy in an easy Tuesday laugh-fest.
