Fans go crazy over Ricky Martin's moves

Adelaide Entertainment Centre, Thursday, October 10

Concert critique by Honey B

Ricky Martin declared that he was going to "leave his soul on the stage'' at his Adelaide concert and he did just that. The charismatic Latin American entertainer had the capacity Adelaide Entertainment Centre crowd in the palm of his hand as fans swivelled their own hips to the upbeat rhythms. It has been 10 years since Martin's last Australian tour and his triumphant comeback has much to do with his role as a mentor/judge on The Voice. While it may have been a television show to bring the sexy 41 year old back to the notice of the Australian people, what is undeniable is Martin's genuine charm and considerable talent. Martin was completely at home busting out the frenetic and highly popular songs She Bangs, Livin' la Vida Loca, Shake Your Bon-Bon and new tune Come With Me as well as the emotional ballads. Audiences also received the surprise treat of Team Ricky, Luke Kennedy and Caterina Torres, joining the humble star on-stage to sing She's All I Ever Had, Private Emotion and Nobody Wants To Be Lonely. It wasn't long before Martin was back to his hip-gyrating best and a highlight was his energetic choreography to his hit, Maria. Fans were swept up into the upbeat party vibe of the entire show, which was flawless from start to finish. What set Martin apart from other high profile performers was his minimalistic stage set which meant the singer could highlight his true showmanship in stylish and frenetic dance routines (he shared the stage with eight incredible dancers) and his vocals were superb. The nimble singer also had about 10 costume changes and the humble artist has such an infectious smile. Joining Martin on this tour was Timomatic who also had the audience up and dancing to his hits If Looks Could Kill and Parachute. Timomatic is a bit like the Aussie Usher! Oh baby what a night and oh baby how Martin moves - he certainly moves. Ricky Martin performs: October 12 - Perth Arena October 16 - Brisbane Entertainment Centre October 18 & October 19 - Allphones Arena Sydney
