Kitty Flanagan, Seriously?

The Royalty Theatre, until March 15

Review by Honey B

As the 2015 Adelaide Fringe ambassador the pressure was on Kitty Flanagan to deliver one corker of a show. And the quick-witted Flanagan hit it out of the theatre on the opening night of her latest show, Seriously, at the Royalty Theatre (Friday, February 13). This show delved deeper than the comedienne has ever gone before as she gave us an insight into her romantic life after dating a policeman for 18 months. The cop is now gone, but Flanagan has a screamingly funny show thanks to the experience. Flanagan hardly took a breath as she opened up about a romantic encounter in Cuba, movie shower and sex scenes, her love of the dishwasher, how to clean dirty undies and dog versus cat people. There was not one misfire in this incredibly tight show and Flanagan also proved herself to be a master of voices as she performed a skit deciding what sort of old person she would be. Flanagan ended the night on a high with her singer/songwriter sister Penny as the duo brought the evening home with their highly catchy original song Middle Age Lady - which is available now on iTunes. The one problem with Flanagan's show is, it's too damn good and this reviewer may have hit her comedy pinnacle on the first night of the Fringe! Kitty Flanagan is not to be missed.
