Glory Box

Garden of Unearthly Delights, Rundle Park, Paradiso Spiegeltent, until March 13

Review by Honey B

Moira Finucane and Jackie Smith's burlesque beauty Glory Box is so much more than a naked romp - it's all about passion, power and art. Sure, some audience members might start off ogling but the wonder of this show is the places these pieces can take you if you are willing to go there with these talented and provocative performers. Finucane is fearless and she's at the top of her game. She is feminine and masculine and it's hard to take your eyes off of her. At times it's like the audience stops breathing when she's on-stage - especially during her new erotic vampiric piece, Soup. Her orgasmic Queen of Hearts is a favourite, while her new crazy Dairy Queen is madcap fun. Sarah Ward brings her fabulous vocal chords and moves to the mix and her pussy song, Song About Cats, is a classic - this girl is a fabulous disco diva. Parisian Holly Durant is mesmerising with her green chiffon veils and Azaria Universe stops the show with pearls and little else but a Bonnie Tyler song - Total Eclipse of the Heart. This is a thought-provoking and confronting show performed by strong, artistic women which will stay with you long after the lights go out.
