Debora Krizak in Laugh Be A Lady

Adelaide Cabaret Festival

World Premiere, 24-25 June, Artspace

Describe your show in one sentence

It’s an insightful look into the lives of famous female comediennes.  What is your favourite moment in this show and why? There are quite a few poignant moments. I guess my fave so far would be when I introduce my own alter ego "LOLA L'AMORE".  What excites you most about cabaret? The intimate environment and the ability to have moments of "show" along with having a lounge room chat with your audience. I also like the spontaneity. Anything can happen at any time and take you in a different tangent. I love that adlib element.   If you could perform anywhere in the world, where would that place be? Most likely on Broadway or the Uk's West End.  What is the song/movie or musical you love the most and why? I don't really have a favourite. I go through stages of loving old musical albums and then a period of discovery where I love new material  I will admit that PIPPIN is still one of my fave musical albums. I love Adele's new album - it's raw with piano based songs. It's uncomplicated and simple, which allows the melodies and the voice to shine. As far as movies go, I get to see a lot of kids movies as I often get invited to the premieres. I particularly loved THE JUNGLE BOOK - a classic re done so beautifully. I just love the art of animated voices  In fact, I'm in the process of putting down some audition tapes for a new American cartoon series at the moment. It's so much fun and an area I would love to do more work in.  What is your favourite sound in the whole world? The sound of laughter. There is nothing better.  Oh, I do like bird chatter too. Join in the fun with Debora Krizak i a special tribute to icons of screwball hilarity Betty White, Carol Burnett, Lucille Ball, Phyllis Diller, Joan Rivers and our own Jeannie Little. Laugh Be A Lady celebrates some of the world’s greatest female comediennes and introduces the flamboyant Lola L’amore played by award-winning performer Krizak in an inspiration homage to some of the greatest stage and screen divas in musical comedy cabaret.
