Disco magic is in the air for Marcia Hines

Marcia Hines is Australia's queen of disco and she's about to set the Adelaide Fringe alight in Craig Ilott's new show, Velvet. Not only is she creating magic with the Smoke & Mirrors director but she is also relishing the magic in creating a new production as well as looking forward to the magic of the Adelaide Fringe. With a career spanning four decades, Hines is certainly not slowing down and she is an inspiration to women everywhere. Describe Velvet to us in one sentence. "It's a place of wonderment and music.'' What is it like creating a new show from scratch? "It's been quite amazing watching all of what's being created and    then to see these ideas come to pass. It's magical.'' Tell us about your role in the show and what you love about it? "My part is    chilled    and caring as well as keeping a watchful    over    what's going on.'' What comes to mind when you think about the 70s? "Fun and fashion, dancing and very late nights  shared with friends and strangers. Good times.'' What is your favourite disco song and why? "Disco Inferno - it's one of those songs that makes me want to get up and have a dance. It's also a great song to perform live when I'm working with my band. It's got a great groove!'' What is it like working with director Craig Ilott and the rest of this fabulous cast? "Craig is a visionary - he's put together a very different and eclectic group of good-hearted and talented people, Oh, and did I mention that he's a very patient man    - with a good sense of humour!'' How excited are you to debut Velvet at the Adelaide Fringe? "It's extremely exciting to be a part of the Adelaide Fringe Festival - I'm really looking forward to experiencing it all. "I've heard so much about the festival for years, and to be a part of Velvet  for this year's Fringe could not be more perfect. I'm looking forward to being a part of the magic.''
