Matt Okine's best year ever

Multi award-winning comedian and Triple J breakfast presenter Matt Okine has had a big 2014 and this year's off to a good start with a gig at the Adelaide Fringe Festival. He has one of the best radio gigs going, he has performed his first national tour and filmed his second DVD as well as being a regular on several TV shows. Here Okine answers our Fringe Funny Five: Describe your show in three words. “Only three words?’’ What made you laugh this week and why was it so funny? “My friend and I were discussing how bad a particular type of chocolate bar was. Then I went to bed that night and when I woke up I felt something weird under my head. I discovered that they’d stashed 10 of these bars under my pillow and I’d slept on them all night.’’ My guilty pleasure is... “Salt and vinegar chips. I’m wrist deep in a bag as we speak.’’ What’s the funniest thing an audience member or a fan has ever said to you? “You better be careful, mate. I heard them in the toilet and they’re gonna get you in the carpark... . That was Bomaderry, New South Wales and it’s funny now. It wasn’t funny as I was running to my car.’’ Which cartoon character do you best relate to and why? “Maggie Simpson. If Maggie Simpson was a 6ft 3’’ black guy who does radio and stand-up.’’ Matt Okine in The Other Guy, Adelaide Fringe, Palace Nova Cinemas, Friday & Saturday, March 6 to 7, 9.45pm.
